Protecnium, firm specializing in engineering and technical services, is currently recruiting a Senior Engineering Manager for a prison infrastructure project based in Auckland, New Zealand. This position is focused on the tender phase and offers a unique opportunity to lead the engineering coordination of a high-security public infrastructure initiative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering strategy, planning, and coordination during the tender phase.
  • Ensure compliance with correctional design standards, building codes, and security regulations.
  • Coordinate with external consultants across architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines.
  • Conduct technical reviews and implement risk mitigation strategies aligned with prison-specific needs.
  • Drive value engineering initiatives that preserve safety and functionality.
  • Engage with government stakeholders to ensure technical proposals meet operational expectations.
  • Mentor junior engineers in secure design practices and compliance requirements.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in infrastructure projects in New Zealand or Australia.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working on prison, detention, or secure facility projects.
  • Proven experience managing engineering design and documentation during tender or bid phases.
  • Fluent in English (C1 level or higher).

Preferred Profile

  • Technical leadership in secure infrastructure or correctional facility design.
  • Strong communication skills with experience engaging government stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of structural containment, secure MEP systems, and security-focused design elements.
