Work with Protecnium on a Leading Tunnel Construction Project in the U.S.

Protecnium, a leading international engineering firm, is currently offering a Senior Tunnel Surveyor job opportunity for a heavy civil construction project based in Virginia. This role is designed for experienced professionals in underground surveying and tunnel infrastructure projects.

We are looking for a candidate who can lead and manage all surveying operations on site, ensuring accuracy and coordination across engineering and construction teams.

Job Responsibilities 

  • Supervise and manage the surveying team on the tunnel section of the project.
  • Establish precise horizontal and vertical control networks inside the tunnel.
  • Perform daily alignments, as-built surveys, and monitor displacements or deformations.
  • Work closely with engineering and construction teams to interpret technical plans.
  • Ensure accurate use and maintenance of surveying equipment such as total stations, digital levels, gyroscopic systems, and laser scanners.
  • Maintain organized survey documentation, reports, and field notes.
  • Apply strict quality control and safety standards in survey operations.
  • Resolve technical discrepancies during field execution.
  • Mentor junior surveyors and support team development.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree or diploma in Geomatics, Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in tunnel or underground surveying.
  • Advanced skills in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, and Leica Cyclone.
  • Proven leadership in managing survey teams on infrastructure projects.
  • High attention to detail and analytical thinking.
  • Ability to work in confined environments and under pressure.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when required.

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 12-hour day shifts.
