The work will increase station capacity by 40%, improving accessibility and reducing interchange times when completed in 2021. The station will remain open during the five-year project. Changes will include a new rail tunnel and platform for the Northern line that will reduce interchange times and create more space for passengers, step-free access to the Northern line and DLR platforms, more direct routes, with two new moving walkways, three new elevators, 12 new escalators and a new station entrance at Cannon Street.
